 Hanukkah Outreach at Northwestern Univeristy
Collegiate Ministries
We may not be in Washington DC doing only college ministry anymore, but it is still deep within our hearts! Here in Chicago we have two universities where thousands of Jewish students attend. So focus on Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. We interact with Christian campus groups, do book tables like the picture to the left, and teach Christians students how to share with their Jewish friends. But the best part is when we can meet with students individually. We also have the opportunity to encourage innovative outreaches in other cities where Chosen People Ministries has missionaries like Southern California and New York City. |
Weekly Bible Studies and Church/Congregation Planting
One of the privileges we have is to use our Biblical education to help disciple groups of believers and non-believers.
We lead 3 weekly studies or groups (one in the West Suburbs, and two in the city of Chicago). We offer Jewish worship experiences, chances for traditional Jewish liturgical services, and Biblical teaching about Jesus from the Old and New Testaments.
These meetings are not only a chance for people to grow spiritually but they are places where community can grow. Both Jewish and Gentile believers attend, demonstrating our unity in Christ. And because of the presence of Jewish believers, Jewish non-believers often attend because of the testimony that, "you CAN be Jewish and believe in Jesus at the same time." So these weekly meetings become a place for evangelism and outreach.

Jewish holidays are tremendous opportunities to share Jesus with Jewish people. From Passover to Rosh Hashanah, Jesus can be easily communicated through the intricacies of the holy days. Passover is the holiday that the Lord used to lead my father to salvation. During Yom Kippur, we share the message of forgiveness in God and His Son to be sure you can be written in the lamb's book of life.
My favorite is our, "Classy Passy." It is a high end Passover seder held in the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower).

One event we did was a lecture by an expert on modern antisemitism. One particular event that went incredibly well was our screening of Promised Land with the director. It is a documentary about surfers in Israel with a spiritual bend and an incredible gospel presentation.
